Sara Young grew up in a village just outside of Chicago, Illinois. She excelled early as an artist and athlete, but could never sit in one spot long enough to really get that good at anything. She grew up working in her father's antique store and auction house just outside of Chicago, and there, grew to understand the beauty and value in hand-made furniture, art, clothes, and tools. In 1991, she moved to Portland, Oregon to complete her education, and from there, took the opportunity to travel the country aimlessly. She returned to Portland in 1996 to train at the prestigious Oregon College of Art & Craft. In 2000, she graduated with a degree in craft, and began showing around Portland, working in jobs at the Pacific Northwest College...
